lipflip – Motorola introduced the Moto G06 less than a year after the Moto G05. Aiming to offer a larger display and higher refresh rate. However, it retains many of the same features, including the processor, camera setup, and battery capacity, which may disappoint some buyers. Motorola announced the Moto G05 in December 2024 and released it a month later. Making the device roughly eight months old when the Moto G06 debuted at IFA 2025.

The Moto G06 features a larger 6.88-inch IPS display, replacing the G05’s 6.67-inch screen. Motorola claims this is the biggest display ever on a Moto G series smartphone. Despite the size increase, the resolution remains HD+, similar to the previous generation. The refresh rate improves from 90Hz to 120Hz, offering smoother visuals. However, the front camera design changed from a hole-punch to a waterdrop notch, which may not appeal to everyone. On a positive note, the device retains the G05’s Water Touch technology, enabling operation with wet hands.
Specs, Features, and Pricing of the Moto G06
Apart from the larger screen, the Moto G06 shares many specifications with the Moto G05. It runs on the same MediaTek Helio G81 Extreme processor and offers RAM options of 4GB or 8GB. Storage choices include 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB, all expandable via microSD. The camera system remains unchanged, featuring a 50MP f/1.8 rear camera with a 2-in-1 light sensor and an 8MP front-facing camera.
The Moto G06 includes an audio jack, stereo speakers with enhanced Bass Boost, and Dolby Atmos support. It also offers Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, a fingerprint scanner, and an FM radio. Durability improves slightly with an IP64 dust and water resistance rating, an upgrade from the G05’s IP54 certification. However, the battery stays the same at 5,200mAh, and charging speed drops from 18W to 10W, which may frustrate users looking for quicker top-ups.

The phone ships with Android 15 out of the box and includes Google Gemini features like Circle-to-Search and AI-powered photo editing tools such as Magic Editor, Magic Eraser, and Photo Unblur within the Google Photos app. Priced starting at €129.99, the Moto G06 is available now in four Pantone colors—Laurel Oak, Arabesque, Tapestry, and Tendril—all featuring dust-resistant and oleophobic coatings. Depending on the region, the package includes a USB-C cable, earphones, a case, a screen protector, and a 10W charger.
In summary, while the Moto G06 delivers a bigger and smoother display, it offers limited upgrades in other key areas. Buyers seeking a larger screen and updated software at an affordable price may find it appealing, but those expecting major improvements over the G05 might feel underwhelmed.
