lipflip – Minisforum has expanded its compact PC lineup once again, this time with the launch of the M1 Pro. Starting at just $383, the M1 Pro is available immediately and follows the company’s recent N5 and N5 Pro releases, which featured AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APU. With the M1 Pro, Minisforum shifts focus back to Intel, offering users a choice between two high-performance CPU configurations.

The M1 Pro can be configured with either Intel’s Core Ultra 5 125H or the more powerful Core Ultra 9 285H. The Core Ultra 5 125H belongs to the Meteor Lake-H family and features 14 cores—4 for performance and 8 for efficiency—along with a 7-core Arc iGPU. It has a 28-watt shared thermal design power (TDP), providing a solid balance of power and energy efficiency.

In contrast, the Core Ultra 9 285H uses Intel’s newer Alder Lake-H architecture. It offers 16 total cores and a more capable integrated GPU. It also supports faster DDR5 RAM at up to 6,400 MT/s, compared to 5,600 MT/s for the Core Ultra 5. Performance benchmarks show the Core Ultra 9 outperforming the Ultra 5 by roughly 25%, both in CPU processing and graphics performance.

Both versions support the same set of ports and connectivity options. Each M1 Pro features two SO-DIMM slots for up to 128 GB of DDR5 RAM and dual M.2 2280 slots for up to 4 TB of PCIe 4.0 x4 storage. These shared specifications ensure users receive a premium feature set regardless of the chosen processor.

Pricing, Configurations, and Market Impact

Minisforum’s pricing strategy makes the M1 Pro appealing for a wide range of users. From home office professionals to creators and developers. The base model with a Core Ultra 5 125H starts at $383 as a barebones system. With options to add RAM and storage for an additional cost. The Core Ultra 9 285H version starts at $695. Targeting users who require higher performance for multitasking, light gaming, or creative workflows.

All configurations include front and rear I/O, with USB ports, HDMI, DisplayPort, and Ethernet among the options. This ensures strong connectivity in a compact form factor that’s ideal for desks, home labs, or entertainment setups.

The M1 Pro’s launch reinforces Minisforum’s growing presence in the mini-PC market. By offering both affordability and cutting-edge hardware, the brand continues to meet the needs of power users seeking space-saving computing solutions. The M1 Pro provides a versatile alternative to traditional desktops and is well-suited for professionals who value portability without sacrificing performance.
