Subscribe to TV Shows via BitTorrent
Every current television show is available on BitTorrent and most of the .torrent's are syndicated via RSS-feeds. TVShows was a great application that hid all the RSS stuff and allowed easy show subscription with some mouse clicks.
Regrettably it doesn't function any longer, as it is blocked by its feeder but I don't know exactly why. For some people -- like me -- it stopped working, for others it's still working fine. .tvrss.net
What follows after the break is a tutorial on how to restore that functionality with some freely available tools. This article is written for users of OS X Leopard, but it should apply to Linux as well.
Praktische Werbung also.
Mein Abschneiden:
Viel Spass.
Feed hungry people by improving your vocabulary
On freerice.com you can feed hungry people by finding the right synonym for a word. Each time you answer correctly, advertisers from the site will donate 20 grains of rice to the United Nations World Food Program.

A fairly simple example might be to select another word for perspective out of: limitation, pharmacist, eruption, or view.
If you choose the correct answer view, you have donated your first 20 grains of rice to somebody starving.
The difficulty is permanently adjusted and will match your skills. If you get a question right, you get a harder word. If wrong, you get an easier word.
This site makes you smarter. It improves your speaking, writing, and thinking skills…
It also provides pointers to other sites about fighting hunger and what you can do besides improving your vocabulary!
New mailinator.com Domains
Rather old, but I just read that Mailinator offers a bunch of alternate domains for its free, save from sign-up, and easy to use Spam-Mail service.

This really comes handy, as anything@mailinator.com is usually blocked. Maybe they'll come up with some kind of random domains that change on a daily basis. Shouldn't be that expensive.
Blink
Blinking is the strongest visual cue to attract human attention. Just think about the flashing lights of police cars or fire trucks. In web design, however, the <blink>-Tag is one of the most annoying inventions right after background music.
[The <blink> tag in HTML] was a joke, okay? If we thought it would actually be used, we wouldn't have written it!Marc Andreesen, Netscape
Luckily, browsers that descended from Netscape Navigator (Firefox, Mozilla SeaMonkey, Camino) allow you to easily modify some settings and blinking can be disabled completly.
To do so, go to the special URL "about:config", search for the "browser.blink_allowed" setting and set it the "false". Done!
Test-Area:
Of course, this only works with HTML-based blinking, so animations based on Flash or Java are not affected by this setting.
Eternalize yourself in the comments if you know how to archive this when using Internet Explorer or Opera.
