Das Flash-Game zur Grippewelle hat ja nicht lange auf sich warten lassen bzw. wurde sogar schon vor der aktuellen Grippe entwickelt und veröffentlicht: The Great Flu.

Bei dem Spiel geht’s darum, mit verschiedenen Methoden wie Infokampangen im Fernsehen, Schulschließungen oder der Isolation von Betroffenen eine Grippewelle einzudämmen. Der Erreger will gefunden, Impfstoffe erforscht und anschließend auch produziert werden. Das alles beim knappen Budget.

Zu Spielbeginn stehen fünf verschiedene Erreger zur Auswahl. Von leicht bis so richtig pandemisch. Unsere Schweinegrippe ist dem Vernehmen nach auf der dritten der fünf Stufen zu finden.

Interessant auch, mit welchen Schwierigkeiten man bei der Eindämmung zu kämpfen hat: Als Leiter der World Pandemic Control hat man viele Möglichkeiten, nur leider weigern sich viele der betroffenen Länder die geplanten Maßnahmen rechtzeitig durchzuführen.

Das Spiel hat zwar einige mittelprächtige Usability-Macken, wurde aber immerhin unter wissenschaftlicher Anleitung entwickelt, so dass die Simulation der Grippeausbreitung nicht vollkommen an den Haaren herbeigezogen wurde.

Update: Da schieb ich doch schnell mal das SPiel Sneeze hinterher. Das ist ungefähr genau das Gegenteil. Man muss seine Figur geschickt durch eine Fußgängerzone steuern und mit genau einem Nieser möglichst viele Passanten anstecken. (danke Daniel)

Try Guitar Geek. That’s a nice little Flash game that lets you be a real rock star in front of a virtual audience.

Guitar Geek is like Guitar Hero and similar games. Your job is to play guitar by playing the right notes at the right time. What notes are to be played is indicated on the fret board on the left. Notes are played by pressing the keys A, S, D, and F on the keyboard (so it’s actually bass and the game should be called Bass Geek, shoudn’t it?). If you miss a note or play it too late or too early you’ll lose points and your audience. Try to get all notes in time and your audience will party!

There two things that I don’t like in Guitar Geek: First, the number of available songs is quite limited to 5 songs or so. Iincreasing difficulty only gives you more notes to play and more complicated keyboard combinations, but no new songs. Second, playing additional notes is always considered as an error, even if they would be perfectly right at an increased difficulty level.

Nonetheless it’s a really cool game. Go ahead and become a Guitar Geek yourself!

WIRED discovered an awesome Flash Game: 99 Bricks

The game is a combination of the well-known computer game Tetris with the popular parlor game Jenga (where you have to stack up as much bricks as possible), spiced up with a physics simulation.

Your task is to build a tower made of Tetris bricks. The thing is that you’re not trying to complete rows, but your going for the tower’s height.
Sound’s easy? It’s not! The higher your tower gets, the more it starts swaying to the left and to the right and suddenly whole parts of your tower may break apart. It takes a few minutes to get used to the game and to grasp that you need to interlock some bricks to make your tower a bit more stable.

Very cool game. Try it out!

Fly Guy is a nice and relaxing game about a man who starts dreaming at a bus station. He dreams about the wonderful things he experiences in the sky after learning to fly. Pretty funny and short enough to get back to work soon…

Vector Wars is a nice little Arcade Shooter. Protect your spaceship that is attacked by zillions of most diverse enemies.

Avoid colliding with them by steering your ship with the cursor keys and blast them out of your way with your mouse-controlled hypergun that permanently increases its firepower.
