According to the fzs, the national union of students in germany, the Bundestag, the lower house of the german parliament, will decide not only to increase the salary of its own parliamentarians, but also to increase the federal funding for students from lower-income families (BAföG) by 10%.
Listening to MP3 audio books in iTunes and your iPod is troublesome. They show up as regular songs and not in the special "Audio Book" category, thus options like changing speed or remembering playback position are not available.
You can find many tutorials about converting MP3s to Audiobooks. Most of them tell you to join multiple MP3s to one file, convert this file to .AAC in iTunes, rename its file extension and readd it to the iTunes Library. That might work well, but you might also use the free and Open Source tool Audiobook Maker.
Sling is a addicting flash game. Your job is to steer a small green ball of glue through fifty increasingly difficult levels.
The OS X Dashboard (and all similar implementations for Windows, Unix, ...) is great for little tasks like looking up a word in a dictionary, or doing simple calculations with a calculator.
Regrettably the calculator widget shipped with OS X 10.4 is really bad. It doesn't honor the regular order of operations, thus entering
1+1*2 leads to
4 instead of
3, and it's very limited in functionality.
Spam is an omnipresent problem on the Internet these days. Not only email is affected with approximately 100 billion Spam mails a day, but also search engines, instant messaging services, forums, and blog comments.
One temporary solution to reduce Spam in wikis, forums and blogs are reverse Turing tests or Captchas (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart).
Tontie is a quite simple game. It's played on a 3x3 grid and from time to time teletubbie-like critters appear. Your job is to hit them with a hammer by pressing the according key on your numeric pad.
Every new level is getting a bit more difficult. Some critters have to be hit multiple times and some must not be touched.
Those Eye-Monsters shown in the screenshot are especially confusing as you have to press their number and not the key matching their position.
You can collect coins and buy new and more powerful hammers etc. It's really a fun game.
